Potatoes As Raw Materials biodiesel fuel?

Who says household food waste and restaurants as the largest contributor to waste. Looks like we have to revise these paragdigma. Food waste can be used as biodiesel fuel as diesel fuel.

A private company in Britain, Greenergy has succeeded in producing biodiesel from food waste as raw material, especially potatoes are most effective as a base for biodiesel fuel because it contains oil.

As quoted from caradvice, Monday (09/05/2011) company that collects food such as potatoes, cakes, bread and sausages which generally contain 25 to 30 percent of cooking oil and fats. The engineer demonize those foods in a place special.

The next process is the process of conversion into diesel oil. The process used to convert the base oil into diesel oil by removing free fatty acids.

After successfully extracting free oil, the basic ingredient is mixed with diesel fuel which later became bisolar and ready for distribution to gasoline fuel pumps in the UK.

Greenergy CEO Andrew Owens said with raw foods, the potential to produce biodiesel fuel is enormous.

"The quantity of biodiesel that is currently our production of food waste is very small, but we hope to improve so that it becomes a significant biodiesel fuel," said Owens.

Currently the company has supplied about 20 percent biodiesel fuel to Britain. Greenergy company also has invested 50 million pounds, or around Rp 709 billion.
