Yahoo Post, new social platform-based forums



Yahoo! today officially launched its new social platform-based forums, Yahoo Post. Output of new social media platform Yahoo is a search tool that combines features of the latest content 'search' to find what users want and the features of 'social' to get in touch with other users according to a preferred topic.

Platform Yahoo Post comes as online developments in Indonesia are very dynamic. According to ComScore, online users in Indonesia, 85 percent of search activity and 91 percent through social networking activities.

To that end, Yahoo Post specializes in search engine segment and is associated with social networking with a social search engine.

"Yahoo's Post is a place where users get more than just a search feature," says Pontus Sonnerstedt, Country Manager of Yahoo Indonesia, in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 21, 2011. "Here you can with a wider discussion topics as you want, "he said.

Social search engine is claimed to enable users to more than doing a search as the search engine. In Yahoo Post, besides being able to find something, users can also discuss with other users with the desired topic.

"Unlike other forums, topics here as the user desires, so much simpler," said Aryo Kresnadi, Regional Product Marketing Manager, Yahoo Southeast Asia.

Aryo added that Yahoo offered a different post with others, because it does not offer a link, but the topics and information that could be discussed further.

Technically, users simply go through the pages id.yahoo.com, then by writing a specific keyword in the search box. After that, they will find a variety of topics according to the keywords used.

Topics may continue into the discussion forum. Interestingly, the forum users at Yahoo Post consists of three categories of users, namely the contributor, voters, and the moderator.

Contributor is the users who do post. Voter is an active user to make 20 posts and be able to have a rating of 100, and a moderator who will be elected democratically by all users.

"Moderators have the authority to manage the content of discussions," added Aryo.

In terms of security, all depending on the content manager. "Moderators can report content that is offensive to customer care, will be followed up by the system," said Aryo. "Users can also report offensive content to the moderator," he said.

Prior to this, a kind of platform has been launched in Korea and Hong Kong in late 2010, known as Kpost and Hpost. However, users in Indonesia can join just simply log in id.yahoo.com
