The survey, conducted the New York Bakery Co.. revealed that British people say sorry on average eight times a day or about 233,600 during the life of their apology.
In fact, one in eight people say the apology is more than 20 times a day.
Victoria Willis, who conducted the study, said, "We suspect the British people say sorry too often. And our study shows, the average British person say sorry almost 3,000 times a year," he told mirror.co.uk.
The most common place is the workplace reveals apology followed while shopping and on the way home.
The study said the average caused an error saying sorry is not the person concerned. As many as 43 percent do it when someone hit them and 17 percent say sorry when someone else stepped on their feet.
